LinkedIn Launches AI Tool Accelerate

LinkedIn is arriving fashionably late to the AI advertising party with a new campaign tool called Accelerate. It’s not out yet, though. LinkedIn is planning to launch it globally to all advertisers by early autumn. The new tool delivers automatic optimizations to help advertisers target B2B audiences more effectively. LinkedIn senior director, Tom Pepper, says Accelerate will do all the heavy lifting for advertisers and even create reports for the C-suite.

TikTok Streaks Aren’t Monetised

TikTok has offered a swift rebuke to some users claiming they are making money from DM streaks. A spokesperson for the social media app told Forbes: “There is no way to be paid for using Streaks on TikTok.” Pretty cut and dry then. There had been chatter that certain accounts were racking up thousands of dollars in revenue from the feature.

Google Tests Slim Video Snippets

A new content format was spotted in Google search results this week. Slim video snippets with small thumbnails are currently being tested. One user on X shared a screenshot showing the new video pack in action with a “how to fix car engine” query. Google is more likely to serve YouTube videos for searches like these, and maximizing coverage on the first page makes sense. There’s no word of an official update yet, though.

TikTok Tackles Election Disinformation

A week after the general elections in the UK and France, TikTok has revealed how its systems have jettisoned content that violates its strict policies. A spokesperson said: “We proactively removed over 96% of violative misinformation content before it was reported to us, and over 80% before receiving a single view in this period.”

Elon Musk Dodges X Severance Payouts

Ex-Twitter staff seeking around $500m in severance payments from Elon Musk have failed in their efforts after a US judge dismissed the case this week. Musk unceremoniously fired thousands of workers after purchasing the platform now known as X back in 2022. However, Judge Trina Thompson said the employees were unable to prove that federal law in the US protected their claims.

Google Adds Eight New Languages to Search Translation

Google is automatically translating content into eight new languages. The search giant updated its documentation this week to confirm the enhanced translation service for Arabic, Gujarati, Korean, Persian, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. Now, users who speak these languages will be able to see title links and meta descriptions translated locally, which will broaden the reach of publishers.

YouTube Rolls Out “Add Yours” Option for Shorts

YouTube wants to spark interactions with its popular Shorts video format after adding an “Add Yours” sticker for creators. When this feature is added to a video, viewers can click on it and submit a response. YouTube is currently trialing the feature with a limited number of creators on mobile, but it could see a broader rollout soon if it’s successful.
